ENAbout fairies from Zlarin
This is a record of fairies. It is for all boys and girls who have never stopped nourishing a child's hope, having generous hearts and showing an understanding that everything in the world is connected.
Anyone who no longer believes in fairies can be argued if they meet one of the people with a fairy need for nature protection; then they will understand that fairies live among us and are very real.
It should be expected that the Šibenik area with two national parks in its composition could and should be a pioneer in beautiful initiatives that bring changes.
Every shift that changes consciousness is important, whether it occurs in a change in one man's behaviour at a time in small and everyday things or in a change in behaviour that occurs in the domain of an entire wider community.
Such an example of a change in an entire island community's behaviour is recorded on Zlarin, the island of coral, which is an indispensable point on our excursions, whether we pass it by sightseeing from a boat or visit it.
Something beautiful and important has been happening on this island in recent years, and that is the initiative "For Zlarin without plastic."
Ivana Kordić, one of the three Zlarin fairies, said that the initiative was launched when the enthusiasm of three volunteers (Ana Robb, Ivana Kordić and Nataša Kandijaš) gathered around La Révolution Albatros, met with the will of a small island community.
Since the fall of 2018, they have joined forces to reduce the island's plastic footprint through the cessation of the use of disposable plastic in Zlarin stores, taverns, restaurants, associations, and firefighters. They have the support of the Zlarin Tourist Board and the Local Board. In the second season without plastic, in 2020, they continued including new small entrepreneurs on the island in the initiative.
Then, at the end of 2019, they started implementing the Zlarin association "Tatavaka" initiative, through which the program "For schools without plastic" is being developed, thus raising awareness of the necessity of a joint fight for a sustainable future by working with schools. During the Zlarin Summer, they also organise cultural and educational activities on the island.
Inspired by Zlarin, and with Krk and the Kornati in mind, we focused on sustainable solutions for equipping our excursions. We agree with the Zlarin fairies that it is easier when we all unite together to preserve our precious environment. Let us rejoice that they have appeared and moved people. We believe that because of them and others like them, corals that have begun to die out and lose colour now start to burn brighter and the whole fairy world from the bottom of the sea is deeply grateful.
This notation is for those who, regardless of age, remain girls and boys in their hearts, and by their choices, have the need to protect and respect all living things.
